sylar's original power is "Intuitive aptitude" this allows him to understand and analyze complex situations/problems/objects with no special training. he gets steals other powers because he "understands" how to absorb people's powers through their brain. this is why when he gets a new power he can straight away know how to use it, compared to Peter who can't (like Ted's radiation power). the downside is that when you have the power you have a thirst to understand everything - in sylars case he has a thirst to have all powers

that is why when peter goes to the future and asks sylar to teach him how to use his power he can fix the watch then skillfully use telekinesis to cut open Nathan's head :S

sylar could (for example) jump into a helicopter or a plane and "understand" how to fly it

I believe you are correct. In a later episode he discovers he can absorb powers without wounding or killing his victims but abandons this approach in subsequent episodes and returns to slicing & dicing.

I'm sure some of it is for writers to keep that evil edge but I'm confident it has to fill his powers need to see how something "ticks" (pun intended) :>)

This is my take on Sylar's power:

There's an episode, can't remember witch one in particular, but in it Sylar talks about how when he looked at watches he could just instantly understand all of their operations, and how they function. I think this is Sylar's power - being able to look at something and understand how it works. This is why he needs to cut people's heads open - all he needs to do is look at the brain and he understands how it works, and therefore how his own brain needs to operate in order to duplicate the special ability of his victim. I can't say I know if he eats the brain after the fact, which seems to be left to speculation deliberately, but either way, I think Sylar's original power, before he gained any of his others, is the ability to look at something and know specifically how it works.

Mohinder believes he created the formula for creating abilities based on Maya's blood sample and he injects himself. The writers would later reveal that a catalyst was required for the formula and (no shock here) the cheerleader is the catalyst. Without the catalyst you get some powers but with adverse side effects like becoming a fly.

The story lines are becoming more predictable and slightly boring, The only fun part so far has been with Hiro who recently had part of his memory erased so all he has left are his memories of being 10 years old. He has returned to the lovable simple character we knew from season 1. Add on top of that, with his recent run-in with Seth Green as a comic book shop owner, it makes the Hiro/9th Wonders comic storyline one of the few bright spots.

I've actually stopped watching Heroes. It was because of the season premiere where it appeared that the writers had decided to turn Mohinder into the fly. So, what really happened?

Thanks, I heard you got married…good and bad (LOL), in all seriousness congrats! and I'm sure she is a wonderful wife.

I also heard another nasty rumor that you have high speed access, wonders never cease :)

I've been working my butt off supporting the family for the last year and had to focus on a just a couple of sites for maintenance. Had some downtime so I updated the site.

My two youngest daughter's started a webkinz site under my I.D. and it's all them, I only go in to fix their grammar and spelliing spilling spelling mistakes.

His ability to absorb powers now appears to be connected to his emotional state allowing him to gain powers without hurting the intended victim.

Anybody notice Seth Green and Breckin Meyer in the comic shop at the end of the episode??? Too funny, can't wait to see how the writers mix them in and for how long.

Maybe we'll even see a Dr.Evil & Mini-Me cameo next but rumor has it they won't do it for less than one million dollars, huh what's that Number One? Oh sorry…one billion dollars

Hi folks… i've been observing this site long back…this site is nolonger updating in a daily basis… Hereos are currently running 3rd season and why the hell this site is not updating on time….

i hope the series going to end with in 4 episodes……

The series Xena has been dead here in the U.S. for quite some time but to answer your question Heroes is a much much better series. It has more budget, better writers, and better actors.

It's really hard to compare the two in the same light. Though I love director Sam Raimi's stuff Xena was not one of them
